Ooh
Hm, very interesting. On the plus side everything was well made, from models to backgrounds, scenery and even the rain. The music theme was quite soothing and matched the overall feel of the game. This feeling was well put together with the climbing in trees, big cliffs and secret pathways. There are downsides as well though. The spoken text from the owner of the fox(?) seem out of context with the rest of the game. The music does not loop which makes for an unusually long period of silence (and some misc bg sounds). Perhaps this could've been solved by picking (or composing, though that could be a lot of work) a second piece to fit in the gap and provide with nice music at all times. The enemies were, compared to the rest of the game, a bit cheap. You don't see them a lot and when you do take a closer look they don't seem by far as detailed and don't give a very good impression. They're also too unpredictable. There is a difference between hard, and simply random. You can run through a field and have your fireflies comped up in a split second without you having seen the thing at all. I also managed to figure out what the trick is to get wings and I was glad to see a power-up system in the game. The wings however appeared to be the only power-up the entire game which felt like a disapointment.
Overal it was quite a good experience. It was fun to try and look for secrets and trying to find hidden paths, guided by the mysterious signs while enjoying the atmosfere. The boss fight was random though did throw in a nice change and some excitement. Just too bad that the owner saying I was pooped was kind of odd and didn't quite fit in. I would love to see a sequel though. Perhaps put some more animation into the fox (some sort of wind influence in its fur, small things) and put everything on the same line to create something that is a trully great game. For this good first effort I'll give it a 6,5/10
